Thailand entry requirements: visas and arrival forms
Before arranging your airport transfer, check the entry rules for your passport, the purpose of your visit and how long you intend to stay. Visa permission and the Thailand Digital Arrival Card are separate requirements.
Travel information checked on 4 October 2026. Recheck the official guidance before departure, as requirements can change.
British and Irish visitors
The Royal Thai Embassy in London states that, from 15 September 2026, eligible British and Irish passport holders may visit for tourism without a visa for up to 30 days, with a maximum of two visa-exempt entries per calendar year. This is not permission to work or an automatic right of entry.
For another nationality, a longer visit or a different travel purpose, check the current eligibility and document requirements and the Thai embassy or consulate responsible for your application. Travel documents issued by the UK or Ireland are not treated in the same way as British or Irish passports.
Complete your Thailand Digital Arrival Card
Most non-Thai visitors must complete a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before entering Thailand. Use the official Immigration Bureau website: submission is free. Complete it within the three-day window that includes your arrival date, and submit a new card for each entry. Children and infants need their own details included too.
The TDAC is not a visa and does not extend your permitted stay. Transit passengers who do not pass through immigration are exempt; check the official TDAC guidance for other exceptions and changes to a submitted card. Keep the confirmation available for arrival.
Prepare your documents and check your stay
Check passport validity and the supporting documents required for your entry category, including accommodation and onward-travel evidence where applicable. Check the permitted-until date entered in your passport before leaving immigration. If you need longer, ask the Thai immigration authorities about your options before that date; an extension is not guaranteed.
